October 2025 - 💿 New Release - Nicolas Rixon - Fairytale (Single) - Out on November 7th

I’ve been collaborating with Nick over the past two months as a co-producer and mix engineer. Together, we’ve developed an efficient remote workflow to shape tracks for his upcoming retro ‘80s-inspired album, drawing on influences from Culture Club, Limahl, and the polished electronic sound of Giorgio Moroder.
Recently, we produced a behind-the-scenes video that walks through our creative process—showing how the first single, “Both Ways” (released in August), evolved from its original demo into a fully polished release.

"Behind the Beat" takes you inside the making of my R&B / Neo Soul instrumental “Barely Touching.” Instead of a live beat build, it’s a highlight reel that showcases the instruments, sounds, and production choices that shaped the track. Music producers and music tech fans can get a glimpse of my workflow, plugin selection, and layering approach.
Sometimes a beat or instrumental starts as one thing and ends up something entirely different. The beat in the video to the right, Level Up began as an Afrobeat/Reggaeton track until a rapper I work with freestyled over it, showing that artists can interpret any beat in their own way — often repurposing it for other genres. You decide!

I'm excited to announce the official launch of my brand-new YouTube channel: @matcatmusic. This channel is the new home for cinematic instrumentals and genre-blending beats as well as behind-the-scenes content. Expect weekly uploads featuring everything from Neo Soul and Alt Pop to Synthwave, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, and more. Whether you're a vocalist or content creator, this is the place to explore fresh, original sounds.
I’ve created this channel to offer a deeper connection to my music — you’ll not only hear the beats but also gain insight into the creative process behind them. In addition, I’ve officially upgraded to a BeatStars Pro page! This is now the go-to platform for licensing my instrumentals, with a streamlined purchasing process for artists and creators. As part of this rollout, I’m currently integrating my BeatStars store directly into my website. This means the SoundCloud players on my Music Production page will soon be replaced by fully interactive BeatStars embeds — making it easier than ever to browse, preview, and license tracks without leaving the site. June 2025 - Rochelle Williams - Living for Me (Single)
As Rochelle and I continue developing her debut EP, which is due out later this year, we felt it was the perfect moment to release something new. “Living for Me” is our latest single — a confident, feel-good anthem about reclaiming your energy, setting boundaries, and owning your worth. April 2025 - Stolen - Stolen (EP)
Stolen is a 6-track acoustic folk/pop EP recorded while I was based at Endell Street Studio in London. I had the pleasure of working with Felicia (AKA Stolen) and we recorded and mixed the project together, working closely with a few other musician to bring out the emotional depth of each track. The standout single “Dance Away” was recently featured in the new film “Jafaican”, written and directed by Fred Nwaka and starring Peter Andre. (In theatres now!) Though recorded a few years ago, the EP remains a moving and resonant listen. I invite you to support this incredible artist by purchasing the EP on Bandcamp.
March 2025 - Amplify Us Workshop - Seeds of Change Podcast
Throughout February Amplify Us delivered a series of podcasting workshops in partnership with The Advocacy Academy in Brixton. The resulting "Seeds of Change" Podcast is a thought-provoking discussion where young activists explore critical issues like gentrification, advocacy, and the role of community in shaping the future. Check out this episode on Spotify and listen to our young speakers reflect on how gentrification is impacting local identity, cultural heritage, and community spaces, with a particular focus on Brixton. They delve into the importance of third spaces and how youth empowerment can drive social change. February 2025 - Hedgeriders - Villagelands (EP)
Hedgeriders is a five-piece acoustic pop-folk band from Felixstowe in Suffolk. I've spent much of February mixing their debut EP "Villagelands" and it was a great experience working on their fantastic songs. “Passing our recordings on to Matt for final mixing and production was one of our band’s best decisions! Matt has really enhanced our recording with some creative ideas, including extra percussion, while always remaining responsive to our requests to try different sounds and mixes. The difference between our recordings pre and post-production is very marked, and our final set of songs would have been much the poorer without his involvement.” - Lyn (Band Leader)
January 2025 - Celebration of Success! - Loving on Myself
The year has kicked off with exciting news—our latest streaming figures show that "Loving on Myself" is approaching 2 million streams across all platforms! My collaboration with Rochelle Williams began back in 2019 during the recording of Paradox's Hip-Hop EP "Box of Paradoxes" at Endell Street Studio.
